N. R. S. N. COMPANY.
A special meeting of the shareholders of the Northern River Steam Navigation Co. was held in Auckland last Monday, Mr A. Buckland presiding. The Chairman announced that Mr. L. D. Nathan, who was one of the directors, had offered to take over the business of the company, paying all debts, and releasing all shareholders from responsibility. No dividends had been paid to the shareholders, and the opposition of late years had interfered with their business, so that the directors were in favour of accepting the offer. However, the shareholders themselves would hare to decide the naattet. In answer to questions by Mr. Brett, the Chairman stated that another boat, costing £BOOO, would be required if the company were to carry on the business. Mobile the
net profit of the steamers for the last four months had been the sum of £2OO would have to be expended at once for a slip for the boats. A motion proposed by the Chairman, to the effect that the company be wound up, was agreed to, and Mr. Nathan’s offer was accepted. Mr. Benjamin was appointed liquidator.
