CORRESPONDEN CE.
[The editor is not responsible for opinions expressed by correspondents.] (To the Editor.) Sir, —Another winter has arrived and we are in the middle of another flood. Ti e present County Council will afford the ratepayers ot this much neglected part of the County no relief from the continual flooding of the whole of the neighbourhood, hut actually stopped the Maories from making a drain that would partly have drained the land of the storm water. As a ratepayer of the district I appeal to those around to take notice of the crying evils that are allowed to occur year after year without redress. When Mr Matthews was County Chairman, he brought this matter before the Minister of Works when he was in the neighbourhood, and asked for assistance foi the aho've work. A part promise was then made, and when the County loan was floated a distinct promise was given and yet we are still no better off and the loan all spent. If we interview the Council we are -told there are no funds, and yet a bonus can he found for office officials or pet schemes of the Council. The outcome must be that we shall have to fight it out at the ballot t, OX- —Yours respectfully, Thomas Woollam,
