WOMEN TEACHERS.
ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Masterton Women Teachers’ Association held its annual meeting at the Central School yesterday. There was a good representation of teachers from the various schools. Miss O. Sutherland occupied the shair. The following officers were elected:— President, Miss O. Sutherland; vicepresidents, Misses Brown and lorns; secretary, Miss McGrath; treasurer, Miss Cumberworth; committee, Misses Hogg, Taylor, Bradbury, Tankersley, Robinson.
The balance sheet showed a credit of £4 17s 9d which was considered very satisfactory. Miss Brown was elected as delegate to the annual conference.
It was proposed to nominate Miss Edmed as president of the New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association and Miss Andrews as .‘iacretary. Several remits for the conference were passed, among them being: “That Masterton be considered a sufficiently large centre for the formation of a special class for retardates under a trained teacher.” A vote of thanks to the staff of tho Central School for hospitality during the past year was proposed by Miss Sutherland and carried by acclamation.
