Bates) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday): Present indications are for strong and squally north-westerly to south-westerly winds; weather cloudy and unsettled with rain probable generally, and cold for a short time; barometer falling but rising again everywhere soon.
Masterton—Mr R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph, 29.60, falling tendency. Shade temperature: Maximum, 75.8; minimum, 58.8; terrestrial, 50.0; bright sunshine, 4hrs.
