TROUBLE IN HAWKE’S BAY..
OVER TREE LABOUR. UNION BUTCHERS GO SLOW. HASTINGS, March 15. The slaughtermen at Whakatu works ‘‘went slow” yesterday and demanded that the free labour butchers be put off. The company declined, with the •result that tho butchers ceased jvork at mid-day to-day, and demanded to be paid off. The company is calling for free labour and it is hoped to have the boards manned to-morrow morning.— (P.A.).
