STATE OUTLAY IN BRITAIN. LONDON, March 14. The Dominions Secretary, Mr L. C. M. Amery, informed a questioner in the House of Commons .that expenditure under the Empire Settlement Act in 1922-23 was £35,000; 1923-24, £425,000; in 1924-5, £424,000; in 1925-26, £570,000; in 1926-27, £1,142,00.—(A. and N.Z.). A SUBSIDY DISCONTINUED. LONDON", March 14. The West Country was dismayed to learn of the Overseas Settlement Committee’s decision to recommend the cessation of the Government’s contribution to the Devon and Cornwall migration committee, which recruits for West Australia.—(A. and N.Z.)'.
