MANNEQUIN TEAS.

AT HUGO & SHEARER’S. REVEAL LEADING AUTUMN I MODES. Yesterday afternoon the first of a series of mannequin teas, introducing the new autumn fashions was held at Hugo & Shearer’s. Many distinguished developments of the vogue in day and evening wear were worn and one heard much favourable comment on the delightful character of the styles which revealed decided originality while at the same time being essentially frej from too theatrical effects. Close oh thirty creations were presented. The new pouched back was &own in an elegant London model coat of patterned velveteen in becoming wine shade, trimmed skunk collar and cuffs.

A glorious Paris production was a salmon pink georgette evening gown embroidered in silver beads, while handsome examples of th© sequin and taffeta vogue were also noteworthy. One of the most popular new fashions at Home is the black velveteen coat with check skirt and the example worn was generally conceded to be very smart and becoming. Lovely Canadian fur coats and furs, among them a superb Northern Musquash coat, aroused universal admiration.

The millinery was also noteworthy for the excellent way in which it matched or harmonised with the garments worn.

Further mannequin teas will be given on Thursday and Friday afternoons.*
