THE DANIELS MYSTERY.
NEW POLICE INQUIRIES AT BOULOGNE.
SEARCH FOR. SHIP’S OFFICER.
(Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.). LONDON, March 11.
It is hinted that new police inquiries at Boulogne may be responsible for developments in the mystery regarding the death of the English nurse, Miss Daniels. The police are endeavouring to trace a ship’s .officer who is alleged to have been seen at Boulogne in company with Miss Daniels- Thus far it seems established that she was alive at noon on the day following the departure of the steamer she intended to catch. In. view of doubts as to the identity of the body, to which Miss McCarthy contributed by saying she does not think it is Miss Daniels, an exhumation is likely. In the meantime, the Magistrate in charge of the investigations has made no ‘comment on Miss McCarthy’s refusal to go to Boulogne beyond insisting that her presence is regarded, as indispensible to a thorough investigation.—(A. and N.Z.).
