BIG FIRE IN MELBOURNE.

TWO WOMEN TRAPPED. SOME DIFFICULT RESCUES. (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.nf.). MELBOURNE, March 13. Damage to the extent of between £15,000 and £20,000 was dohe to a building at the corner of Collins and Swanston Streets at mid-day. The main occupants of the building were Stewart Dawson and Co., jewellers, the newspaper ‘ ‘Argus’s” city depot, and an amateur sports club. Two women were trapped within the building, and two men who rushed to their assistance had to be removed by the Fire Brigade ladders. Another man clung to a ledge on the top floor till rescued by the firemen.-*-(P.A.).
