BEAM WIRELESS.
THE AUSTRALIAN TESTS. OFFICIAL HOPES. LONDON, March 11. Despite the strictest official reticence in all quarters, the Australian Press understands that there is much hopefulness that the beam tests will work out to specifications. As soon as they end at 9 o’clock to-morrow night the whole week’s figures will be analysed, and’ deductions made for errors to see if the hundred words a minute for a seven hours’ day has been maintained. If this is found to be the case, the engineers will give a certificate of efficiency, the Marconi’s will request the Post Office to take over the stations and the Post Office will ask the Australian Company’s assent. After that it will perhaps be a week before the service will be open! to the public.
It is. understood that Marconi ’s are most anxious to be able to announce success at the reorganisation meeting on Tuesday.—(A. and N.Z.).
