MEETING OF COMMITTEE. SHOW DETAILS. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton’ A. and P. Association was held yesterday, Mr. G. H. Perry presiding. An offer of a chair-o-plane at the price of £650 w r as declined. A sum of £9 ss. 3d. was received from Dalgety and Co., and one of £4 65., from the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., being the proceeds of the sale of sheep donated at the Alfredton sale.—Received with thanks.
The Finance Committee reported that the Association’s car had been disposed of for £4O. A -donation of £2 due as fees and prize money was received from Mr. R. McKenzie, who was accorded a vote of thanks.
Mr. J. L. Murray, who controlled the weight judging competition, submitted a report showing that the total proceeds of the competition were £ll3 lls« Members expressed satisfaction with the work of Mr. Murray and his helpers and recorded their thanks for the splendid financial result. The Corriedale Sheep Society of New Zealand wrote stating in reference to the question as to who was the recognised breeder of an animal—the person who mates, or the owner of the dam at the time of birth —that the society’s executive considered that the stud master that mated the animals was deemed the breeder. However, the point -was being referred to a full council meeting for a ruling. The secretary of the New Zealand Showmen's Association wrote asking the Society’s co-operation in continuing annual show's at night and offering to pay the expenses of working the grounds during the evening. The proposal had been adopted at Christchurch with great success.—No action was taken.
The Royal Agricultural Society forwarded a list of judges for A. and P. shows, and asked the association to revise the list paying particular attention to the deletion of names of deceased judges, the addition of further competent judges and the correction of . addresses of those already in the list. ? Ihe matter was deferred till next I meeting.
It was decided to grant the Defence department permission to use the Solway Showgrounds for a mounted rifles’ camp in April at a rent- of £2O, the Department to be responsible for any damage done. It was further decided to devote the revenue towards the installation of electric light at the showgrounds. Acting on a report from the engineer in charge of the hot water appliances,
it was decided to obtain an independent report on the efficiency of the hot water services at the grandstand.
As there was not sufficient green feed for the recent show, it was decided to make more provision for green feed in future years. Eighteen new members were elected.
