Mr. D. Caselberg is paying a business visit to Auckland. Mr. H. E. Pither has been spending the week-end in Wellington. Sir Thomas Mackenzie, who has been absent from New Zealand for fifteen months, arrived in Auckland yesterday by the liner Tamaroa from London.— (P.A.) Mr. C. C. Marsack, 8.A., LL.B., who has entered into partnership with Mr. R. McKenzie, solicitor, of has taken up residence in Essex Street with his family. Mr. Marsack served in the War as a Lieutenant with the Rifle Brigade, and on returning to New Zealand settled in Taumarunui where he practised his profession. He was for a term Mayor of Taumarunui. r <i $? The work of Mr. W. H. Saunders as secretary of the North Wairarapa branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, was the . subject of commendation by members at the annual meeting last night. The chairman (Mr. J. H. Griffiths) stated that Mr. Saunders's guidance, useful information, and the trouble he had taken with the work had ensured the success of the undertaking, a remark which was heartily endorsed by Mr. E. F. Barton.

Mr. Charles J. H. W. Dixon, who lost his life in a fire at Howick, near Auckland, on Saturday night, was formerly Deputy Commissioner of Stamps at Wellington. He was 64 years of age, and was born in Christchurch. He was educated at Christ's College before entering the land and transfer department. He was transferred to Auckland and later to Wellington, where he became Deputy Commissioner of Stamps. Jlr. Dixon retired just before the war. He is survived by a widow and six married sons and daughter#.
