GRASFONTEIN DIAMOND BUSH. CHAMPION RUNNER PEGS FIRST CLAIM. (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN, March 5. The Grasfontein diamond rush is the biggest ever known. Twenty-five thousand runners lined up for the start in the presence of a similar number of spectators. The first to reach the area was the South African champion runner, Len Richardson, who was offered £lOOO for his claim, but revised. Twenty thousand licenses were issued, constituting a record.—(A. and N.Z.)
