SCHOOL HOLIDAYS EXTENDED.

IN HONOUR OF ROYAL VISIT. TWO DAYS INSTEAD OF ONE. In recognition of the visit to tho Wairarapa of tho Duke and Duchess of York, it was originally intended to give the school children attending schools southwards from Mangatainoka, a whole holiday on Monday. Children attending Wellington city and suburban schools were given both Monday and Tuesday, so at the instigation of the Mayor (Mr.. T. Jordan) a telegram was dispatched to the Department suggesting that Bush and W’airarapa schools should receive two days. A reply was received from the Secretary (Mr. Stewart) yesterday afternoon advising that the Board had agreed to the granting of the two days (Monday and Tuesday) as requested.
