LAND AND LABOUR.

AUSTRALIAN- GRAZIERS OPPOSE WAGE INCREASE.

LOSSES IN FARM INDUSTRY.

BRISBANE, March 3.

The Arbitration Court reserved judgment in the application of the Australian Workers’ Union and other organisations for an increase in the basic wage from £4 5s a week to £4 15s. The Government and the Graziers' Association opposed the application. Counsel for the latter, addressing the Court, said that the estimated loss of sheep in the recent drought in Queensland would amount to £6,000,000 with proportionate losses in cattle.—(P. A.).
