At the meeting of the Greytown Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening, the point was stressed that Greytown was labouring under a big handicap owing to the shortage of modhomes. The chairman (Mr. J. F. Thompson) stated that the Town Lands Trust intended to commence a housebuilding programme as soon as the necessary powers to borrow money for the purpose were obtained. During the next session of Parliament a Bill, empowering the Town Lands Trust to borrow £6OOO would be presented, and if it were put through, which did not appear , to be in doubt, the town could look forward to the early completion of several modern homes.
