f SPECIAL ADVERTISEMENTS. WAIRARAPA COUNTIES’ JOINT BY-LAWS. NTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a Special Meeting of Delegates (duly appointed under Secticn 113 of “The Counties’ Act, 1920”) of tho Councils of the Counties of Akitio, Pahiatua, Ekctahuua, Mauriceville,Castlepoint, Masterton, Wairarapa South and Featherston held on the 10th day of February, 1927, it was resolved (by way of Special Order) that Joint ByLaws of the said Counties be made under “The Counties Act, 1920,” “”Tae Public Works Act, 1908,” “The Health Act, 1920,” “The Motor Vehicles Act, 1924, u and the several Acts amending the same respectively and every other power them respectively in this behalf enabling, tho object and purport of which Joint By-Laws are as follows: — 1. —Repeal of all By-Laws previously made by the Councils of the said Counties. 2. —lnterpretation of terms and general. 3. —Conduct of business at Meetings of Council or Committees. 4. —Conduct of Officers. 5. —Regulating use of Seal. 6. —Defining Hawker and Pedlar and requiring Hawkers and Pedlars to be Licensed and fixing the License Fee. 7. —Prohibiting Cattle from being at large on Roads; Prohibiting Pigs or Goats from running at large. 8. —Fixing the maximum load on a Bridge. 9. —Making provision for Notice to be given to the council of damage to Bridges and Roads and for repair of damage thereto. 10. —Making provision as to the width of tyros on Motor Lorries and Vehicles drawn by animals.

11.—Making provision as to Bullocks as beasts of draught on Roads.

12.—Making provision for the lighting of Engines, Vehicles and Cycles on Roads between sunset and sunrise and requiring Cycles to carry reflectors between sunset and sunrise.'

13. —Making provision for warning by Motorists and Cyclists and for Silencers on Motor Cycles. 14. —Regulating traction-engine traffic on roads, and brakes on Tractionengines and Motor Lorries.

15. —Empowering Council by resolution to close afiy specified roads, road, or part of a road, for Heavy Traffic during months from May to September, and empowering Council by resolution to close any specified roads, road, or part of a road tluring the months aforesaid to Heavy Traffic exceeding a weight determined by the Council. 16. —Providing for the Licensing of Heavy Traffic on Roads, fixing the License fees, and regulating tho conduct of Heavy Traffic.

17. —Providing for reflectors on Motor Lorries and regulating the speed of Motor Lorries.

18. —Prohibiting fishing from Bridges and regulating mode of driving Stock over Bridges. 19. —Providing for the Licensing of Billiard Rooms, fixing the License fees; and regulating tho conduct of Billiard Rooms.

20. —Providing for the Licensing of Vehicles used to carry Passengers, or goods for hire or reward on County Roads; fixing the License fees, and regulating the Traffic of such Vehicles. 21. —Prohibiting certain nuisances on Roads and certain dangerous traffic on Roads, prohibiting cr regulating hoardings or excavations on or near roads and removal of soil from roads, making provision as to steps to oo taken by drovers of Live Stock on roads, to make way for Vehicles, making provision as to damage to fences or gates in County paddocks; as to the rules of the road; ns to grippers attached to wheels; empowering Council to close road as unsafe for all or certain traffic; empowering Council to appoint parking places for Motor Vehicles near public gatherings; prohibiting the parking of Motor Vehicles on any Road at any place within half a mile of such gathering except at a parking place so appointed, and empowering an Inspector to control Motor Traffic within such half mile.

22.—Fixing the Fees for Registration of premises used for carying on offensive trades or for cattle sale yards, and prescribing the conditions and the form of certificate in respect of such registration.

the penalties for breaches of any of the By-Laws. The said resolution will be submitted for confirmation to a Meeting of tae said Delegates to be held at the Office of the Masterton County Council, Chapel Street, Masterton, at upon on MONDAY, the 14th day of March, 1927.

A copy of the proposed Special Order and By-Laws is deposited at the Office of the Akitio County Council, Pongaroa; at the Office of the Pahiatua County Council, Pahiatua; at the Office of the Eketahuna County Council, Eketahuna; at the Offices of the Mauriceville County Council, Mauriceville; at the Office of the Castlcpoint County Council, Tinui; at the Office of the Masterton County Council, Masterton; at the Office of the Wairarapa South County Council, Carterton; and at the Office of the Featherston County Council, Martinborough, where the same wil] be open for Public Inspection during Office hours until the said confirming meeting is held.
