LABOUR AND RUSSIA.
MEMBER OF PARTY RESIGNS. COMPLETE DIFFERENCE. LONDON, February 28. Dr. Haden Guest, M.P., for North Southwark, has resigned from the Labour Party. In a statement he said: ‘‘Aly immediate reason is a complete and fundamental difference of opinion regarding the Labour amendment concerning China. I discussed the matter with the local executive, but could not reach a compromise. The fact is that no compromise is possible on such a question.’ 1 Dr. Haden Guest has not decided whether ho will resign his seat, but says that he certainly does not intend to join tho Conservatives.—(A. and N.Z.).
(Dr. Leslie Haden Guest, a prominent member of the British Labour Party, is 50 years of age. Jlc served with the R.A.Af.C. in France, and was also a civil surgeon in the South Africn War. In the Ramsay MacDonald Ministry he was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Alinister of Health. He was secretary and physician to the Labour delegation to Soviet Russia in 1920. Be-
