AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLITICS.
MR. E. G. THEODORE ELECTED. SYDNEY, February 28. The by-election for the Dailey seat, to fill the vacancy caused by tho resignation of Mr. Mahoney, was held on Saturday.
Mr. E. G. Theodore, ex-Premier of Queensland, the Labour candidate, was elected. The final figures gave him a majority of 8514 votes.—(P.A.). (Mr. E. G. Theodore retired from Queensland politics in. order to enter the larger arena, provided by the Commonwealth, but he was not successful in winning the Herbert seat at the last General Election. Mr. Theodore dominated Queensland polities for some years. According to recent Australian files, it is not unlikely that Mr. Theodore may become leader of the Federal Labour Party.).
