SPLENDID SITE PROVIDED IN MASTERTON. CATERING FOB VISITORS. MANY ATTRACTIONS. r Sites for motor camping are now in great demand all over the Dominion. and ths Borough Council and others interested, notably the P.I.M. Committee and its energetic secretary (Mr. F. Norris), and local representatives of the motor trade, are to be congratulated on what is being done in Masterton to meet this demand. When a few minor improvements have been carried out, the area in the Park set aside by the Borough Council for the use of motor campers probably will compare well with anything of its kind in New Zealand. now available for motor campers is well chosen. Except where it joins the Park playing areas, it is enclosed by sheltering trees, and it is conveniently approached from Queen Street by way of Bruce Street. Direction boards have been put up at the main street corner and on the way in. Tho approach through the Park is by way of an earth road, but this no doubt will serve all purposes during the months of fine weather. A concrete fireplace is being built on the ground by the motor trade organisation, and direction and notice boards have been put up by the P.I.M. Committee. The committee is going into the question of providing a water supply on the ground. At present, a water supply and other conveniences are available in the Park at bo great distance. This fine camping site of course owes much of its attraction to its location tn a Park in which a great deal has been done to provide for the comfort and convenience of those who desire to take their pleasure in the open air. .The surroundings are beautiful, and ample provision is made for amusement and games. The well-equipped children’s playground closely adjoins

the camping site, and a notice-board Estates that visitors are invited cordially to join in the various games playad on the Park. For a small fee, tennis courts, bowling greens and croquet lawns are available, and there are facilities also for boating and swimming. Neither adults nor children need find time hang heavily on their hands in Masterton Park. Apart from the attractions of the Park itself, there is an excellent swimming pool in the river adjoining the motor camping site. Apart from the advantages it offers motor tourists, the camping site no doubt will be of considerable use to local and district motorists on occasions when there are public gatherings in the Park. It will, of course, provide a safe and convenient parking plaee for day visitors, as well as for those who wish to camp for a time. It may be expected that the establishment of the camping site will in various ways ensure the use of the by greatly increasing numbers of prople as time goes on.
