QUICKSTEP TO ASHBURTON MILITARY. I B GRADE TO INVERCARGILL. QUEEN ALEXANDRA'S SCOOP SPECIAL PRIZES. WELLINGTON, February 26. The weather was ideal for the quickstep competition on the Athletic Park yesterday. The attendance was about fifteen thousand. Thirty-six bands competed in the quickstep and separate prizes were alZitted in each grade. The A grade played C. Trussell's “Wairarapa,” and the B grade played “The Outpost.” At the elose of the competition the massed bands played the contest march under the baton cf the judge (Mr. Halliwell).
