REVIVAL IN FEATHERSTON.

AFTER SIX YEARS’ RECESS.

AN ENCOURAGING SUCCESS.

(“The Age” Social.) A most successful swimming carnival was held on Saturday ternoon under the ausinces of the newly-inaugurated Featherston

Swimming Club. This was a most welcome revival, as apart from school events, n» swimming sports have been held in, Fsatherston for five or six years. A large number of spectators were the result should ibe most encouraging to the committee, who worked enthusiastically to make the carnixpl a success. The prizes were presented, by the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Card) who thanked the Wellington swimmers who had attended at the request of the Swimming Association, and whose exhibition had been greatly enjoyed fy all present. Mr. Card also extended a welcome to other Wairarapa competitors, und thanked, on behaif of flic committee, several local residents who had donated special prizes. The results of the events were as follow:—

50 Yards Boys’ Handicap (Mrs. Edwards's trophy).—L. Nicie.

25 lards Ladies’ Dash Handicap (Miss H. Card’s trophy).—Miss E. Barry.

25 Yards Men’s Dash Handicap.— Fuller 1, Todd 2, Stone 3.

50 Yards Ladies’ Handicap.—N. Wallace 1, G. Long 2. A. McKenzie 3. 25 Yards Girls’ Handicap.— N. Wallace 1, R. Hart 3, M. Tocker 3. 50 Yards Men’s Handicap.—Ward 1 Burt 2. •

Ladies’ Diving.—A. MeKenzie 1, N. Wallace 2, R. Hart 3.

100 Yards Men’s Handicap.—Blakely 1, Rix-Trot 2, Watson 3.
