ALFREDTON EWE FAIR. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: We yarded close on 6000 sheep, which came forward in splendid condition an.l comprised some good lines of breeding ewes. Buyers were present from Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu and Wairarapa. 'Competition was not very keen, but we were able to place the whole of our entry at satisfactory prices. We quote:. Five-year ewes, 13/- to 17/-, 4year ewes 15/- to 17/6, 4-tooth ewes 25/9, 2-tooth ewes from 19/1 to 27/7. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: A very full yarding of ewes was submitted to a large attendance, buyers being present from the Manawatu, Pahiatua, Woodville and Wairarapa districts. The quality and condition of the yarding was on the whole very good and well up to previous years’ standards. Competition was exceptionally keen for young , ewes and there was also a firm demand for all lines of 4 and 5-year ewes of good quality and condition. A total clearance was effected at auction, with prices as follows:—Account*Nelson Bros, 171 2-tooth ewe, 27/-; ac. K. Nelson, 225 4 and 5-year ewes, 19/-; at. •B. Thomas, 143 4-year ewes, 19/-; ac. F. Bobbie, 201 4-year ewes, 19/-; ac. Brcoklands Estate, 158 4-tooth ewes 24/-, 150 5-year ewes 14/3; ac. F. C. Lewis Estate, 363 s.ai. ewes 14/10, 109 4- to 4-year ewes, 18/-, 170 2-tooth ewe 20/-; ac. E. Hornabrook, 466 5-year ewes 15/-; ac. Cleo and Price, 149 4year ewes 14/10; ac. A. C. P. Hay, 94 5- ewes 14/-; ac. K. J. Didsbury, 242 4 and 5-year ewes 16/-; ac. E. McLean, 52 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 17/6; ac. Cox & Gunning, 200 4 and 5-year ewes 15/-. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: A very large yarding of ewes came forward. There was a good attendance present, and buyers were operating from the Lower Wairarapa, as well as buyers from Manawatu. Practically the whole yarding changed hands at prices on a par with mte rates. Following are our -prices: Twotooth ewes 18/- to 24/9, 4-year ewes 15/- to 20/-, 4 and 5-year ewes 13/2 to 15/10, m.a. ewes 12/- to 14/-, cull ewes 7/- to 9/6.

The W.F.C.A. Ltd., stock department, report: The yarding, -which was not quite up to advertised numbers, attracted a good attendance of buyers from all parts of the Wairarapa, Southern Hawke’s Bay, and Manawatu districts. Prices were on a par with recent ewe fairs. We offered abput 2800 head, included in which were the annual draft of 480 from Te Hoe Station, which topped the market for the ago at 18/4. Other principal lines sold by us were, 480 4 and 5-year, account A. J. Rutherford, 16/; 131 4-year, account W. Geange, 18/9; 171 4 and 5-year, account T. A. Welch, 18/; 120 4-year, account E- Jewitt, 17/9; 154 4-year, account A. Weston, 16/; 148 4 and 5-year, account Hislop Brothers, 15/; 320 5-year, account H. Seymour, 14/3; .128 4 and 5year, account H. Godinagh, 14/2. On account of other vendors: aged ewes, 9/, 11/ to 13/6; 56 2-th ewes, account L. and F. Percy, ,26/6.; 2-th ewes, account S. R. Welch, 24/3; do, account Hislop Brothers, 23/; smaller lines, 18/4 to 18/6. CARTERTON SALE. Tho New Zealand Farmers* Distributing Co., Ltd., report: We yarded 1100 sheep to a good attendance of buyers, and with the exception of a small line of wethers we disposed of the whole entry under the hammer, at prices most satisfactory to the vendors. Prices: 38 2-th ewes, 20/; 126 2-th ewes, 22/9; 101 2-th ewes, 23/9; 80 4 and 5-year ewes, .15/6; 60 store ewes, 6/6; 30 store ewes, 4/6; 80 w.f. lambs, 12/3; 65, 14/; 50, 14/5; .50, 14/11; 46 15/3; 50, 15/6; 20, 16/8; 245 b.f. lambs, 14/.

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: We offered a small yarding of cattle find sheep to the usual attendance. Prices were on a par with late sales,and we made a clearance at the following prices: b;f. lambs, 18/ to 19/; small do, 13/; Southdown rams, 5 to 6 gns; store bullocks, £6.
