PLANS OF A TEMPLE.
RATANA AND AN ARCHITECT. SUPREME COURT ACTION. WANGANUI, February 25. Clifford Newton Hood, an architect of Wanganui, sued Ratana and Peter Moko in the Supreme Court to-day for £250 damages, being the cost of plans drawn up for a Ratana temple which were not used in their entirety, but allegedly were used as the basis for another plan drawn by ,a Maori named Piko. The temple eventually was built by Eatanftites.
After hearing exhaustive evidence, Mr. Justice McGregor stated that no doubt there had been some agreement between plaintiff and defendant for the drawing of plans. It was also clear that the plans had been incorporated to a certain degree in Pikko’s plan: Ho was not satisfied that Hood had drawn plans entitling him to his full claim. Judgment was given for the sum of £l3O.
- Patterson, building contractor, stated that the temple as erected by the Maoris was like a hippodrome, and the first good storm or earthquake would smash it.—(P.A.).
