Mr. C.. E. Daniell leaves to-day on a business visit to the Waikato.

Mr. F. K. Hunt S.M., of Auckland, presided over the sittings of the local Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

A London message states that Trinity College has appointed as ipusic examiners for New Zealand Messrs Georgo \ ineent and Adolph Mann.

A Sydney message states that tho Rev. George Hewitt has been elected president of the New South Wales Methodist Conference.

Chaplain-Captain G. S. King is going into camp to-morrow with the Sth Battery, New Zealand Field Artillery. He will be away until Saturday week. The camp is being held this year at Foxton.

The Rev. W. Becketet left yesterday for the annual meeting of the Methodist Board of Foreign Missions which opens in Auckland on Monday morning. He will also attend the Annual Conference which commences on Wednesday morning and will be absent from Masterton for a fortnight.

Members of the I’rovincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union yesterday granted their secretary (Mr. J. Watson) a fortnight’s holiday. At the same time, a vote expressing appreciation, of Mr. Watson’s services was carried by acclamation* Several members eulogist the' untiring zeal with which Mr. Watson had carried out his duties, and particular mention was made of his useful services at the time of the freezing works dispute, and in organising the fleece competition. Mr. Watson will bo leaving to-day to spend a fortnight on a fishing excursion to the Marlborough Sounds.

The friends of Mr. Herbert Robinson, of Opaki Road, Masterton, will regret to learn of his death, which occurred yesterday morning. The deceased underwent an operation for appendicitis recently, but complications arose which ultimately caused his death. Deceased was a native of Dunedin and was 37 years of age. Recently he conducted a fancy goods shop in Masterton. The late Mr. Robinson is survived by a widow and two sons and two daughters, who will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their sad lose. The funeral will leave Mr. G. Hyde’s mortuary chapel. Church Street, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, for the Masterton Comet erv.
