MAURICEVILLE SPORTS.
TO BE HELD ON MARCH 12. PROGRAMME AND OFFICIALS. At the Mauriceville District Sports meeting on Monday, it was decided to hold the annual sports on March 12. The programme includes foot events for both ladies and men, children’s events (including the primary schools’ district championship), relay race, horse events, turning competions, apple bobbing, flag competition, tilting, thrcad-the-needlo, dismounting between hurdles, car pegging, car potato race, car tilting, ladies’ nail driving, tug-of-war, chain stepping, sheep guessing, pig chase. Light refreshments will be procurable on the ground, and hot water will be supplied free to picnic parties.
The following are the officers, for the meeting: Patron, Mr J. L. Heckler; president, Mr Jas. McGovern; vice-presi-dents, Messrs A. M. Colquhoun, G. R. Sykes M.P., R. Cameron, L. T. Daniell, C. C. Jackson, R. D. McKenzie, A. Forsberg, F. Lehmsted, L. P. Larsen, H. Myers, H. Mallabar, J. H. Berney, W. McGruddy, R. Judd, R. A. Cameron, J. Speedy, D. Bennett, C.'B. Seymour, A. Thorby; foot events, handicapper, Mr D. Brooks; starter, Mr W. Udy; judges, Mr D. Bennett and Mr H. Freeman; horse events, judge, Mr J. Douglas, Tinui; car events, judge , Mr. F. Jennings; timekeeper, Mr. J. Tomlin.
A large and enthusiastic general committee should ensure a most successful
gathering. Tho hon. secretary is Mr. E. W. Cheetham, and the assistant secretary, Mr. M. Jennings.
