A MURDERED JEWELLER.
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN OUTRAGE. TWO MEN CHARGED. (Received Wednesday, 8.55 p.m.) ADELAIDE, February 23. At an inquest into the death of John Robert Hindmarsh, Ronald Reynolds and John Baxter were committed for trial on a charge of murder. The verdict was that death was due to rapid asphyxia, caused by injuries to the neck and windpipe, the result of a gag being fastened tightly over the mouth and round the neck.—(P.A.) (A cablegram from Adelaide’ two weeks ago reported that a man walked into.a jeweller’s shop and said he was acting on behalf of a man who was y in ss Hl at an hotel. He made inquiries regarding jewellery. The manager of the shop, John Robert .Hindmarsh, took three single diamond rings, value! at £6O each, motored to the hotel, and went to a certain bedroom. In the morning a maid opened the door at 9 30 to announce that breakfast was ready and observed a man in bed apparently asleep. She did not wake him. Two hours later, cn again going to the room, she saw the maJ in" the same position. The police were called and it found that the man in bed was dead. He proved to be Hindmarsh.)
