EGG-LAYING.

SECOND YEAR. SIX WEEKS TO RUN. The Masterton Poultry Club’s second annual egg-laying competition has now only another six weeks to complete the year, and a great deal of interest is being taken in the test. Mr. Kissling, a prominent Rhode Island Red breeder, from Auckland, was a viistor to the competition last week, and he expressed the opinion that it is doubtful whether any birds could look in better health than those competing, which reflected great credit on Mr Norman, the club’s caretaker. The secretary will receive 'entries for the coming season’s competition on Saturday next. Several new breeders have signified their intention of entering birds this year. Messrs. Brown and Cocker, Government poultry experts, judged the birds and eggs last week. The results will be published later.
