THE POPULAR SHINGLE.
WILL IT CONTINUE. TWO AUTHORITIES AT ODDS. LONDON, February 15. “The shingle won’t last a decade. Long hai» will return as sure as the sunshine follows the rain,” says M. Marcel, inventor of the Marcel wave. On the other hand, M. Long, w’ho assisted M. Marcel to popularise the wave, declares that the shingle will be fashionable for the next thirty years. These ccnflicting opinions were secured during a visit to London of these gentlemen, accompanied by their wives, both of whom have unbobbed, unshinglcd hair. M. Long added that the shingle would be long-lived because it “goes with short skirts, which will continue to prevail. The Eton crop is doomed because it is ugly and prevents dyeing, as the roots are visible.” —(A. and N.Z.)
