BETTY WINS SANDERS CUP.

IDEAL CONDITIONS. BONA BEATEN BY 18 SECONDS. CHRISTCHURCH, February 16. The final race for the Sanders Cup was decided at Lyttelton this morning under ideal conditions. The Betty sailed away from the Rona over the completing stages, and won by 18secs. Avalon was a long way back third. The official finishing times were as follows: Betty, 12hrs 59 mins 12secs; Rona, 12 hrs 59mins 30secs; Avalon, 13hrs 2 tains 5 secs.—(P.A.). CORNWELL CUP. The presence of Gadfly, the Christchurch boat, in the fleet contesting the Cornwell Cup has reduced the contest to something like an absurdity. The boys lucky enough to draw the Gadfly feeem assured of a win. The boat won two more races to-day, making six to date. The result of the fifth race was: Otago 1, Auckland 2, Hawke’s Bay 3. Lyttelton 4, Southland 5, Wellington 6. Otago w'on by smins 40secs. The sixth race resulted: Christchurch 1, Lyttelton 2, Auckland 3, Otago 4, Wellington 5. The seventh race, started at 4.15 this afternoon, was called off at the expiration of the time limit, the wind having failed. The race is to be re-sailed this morning. Lyttelton has drawn the Gadfly. The executive decided to-day that if the second round is commenced tomorrow Gadfly will not be used. — (P.A.).
