The Auckland Unemployihent Committee, formed last June, decided today to disband and place the onus foi relieving the unemployment problem upon the Government, ft was resolved to ilptify the Prime Minister of this decision during his visit to Auckland on Friday and to inform him that the committee could no longer perform any useful services in view of the Govern ment’s apathy toward its activities When the committee met, it was an nounced that the Mayor (Mr. G. Bair don) would not be present, and thnl the assistant town clerk had resigned his post as secretary to the committee owing to pressure of other business Htrong criticism .of the Government’: attitude was voiced, it being statei that the total number of unemployed ii the Auckland province was well ovei three thousand.—(P.A.)
