SCHOOL SWIMMING.

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES AT FEATHERSTON. BOY AND GIRL CHAMPIONS. (“The Age’’ Special.) Miss H. Card yesterday morning presented the trophies to the winners of various events of the Featherston School swimming championahipa. In briefly introducing Miss Card to the school children, the headmaster, Mr F. L. Combs, thought that the children had had a most pleasant afternoon’s sport due to the efforts of Miss McDonald and Mr. Bishop, and he asked the children, before going any further to show their appreciation of the efforts on their behalf of there two teachers. They were also very much indebted Miss Card for the assistance which she had altfay-s given the school, and for donating two medals for the champion boy and girl swimmer. He also wished to thank Mrs. Hyland and Messrs. Holdcroft and Nieeie for donating trophies. In presenting the trophies, Miss Card said that it always gave her very great pleasure to do anything she possibly could for the children, ami they need never be afraid to ask her to assist. She congratulated the competitors, both winners and losers on the fine spirit and sportsmanship which they had displayed, and reminded them that the rules learnt on the playing fields would last them throughout life. The following is the prize list:— Champion girl swimmer (Miss Card’s medal).—Aisla McKenzie.

Champion boy swimmer (Miss Card’s medal). —Leslie Nieeie. Boys’ diving (Mr. Holdcroft’s trophy): A. Sigglecow. Girls’ swimming under water (Mrs. Hyland’s trophy): T. Mathews (South Featherston).

Boys’ plunge (Mr. Nieeie’s trophy) —R. Smith.

Girl’s plunge (Mrs Hyland’s trophv —M. McLeod.
