Pen of four 2-tooth Lincoln flock rams: McGregor Estate 1, Percy Bros. 2 and 3. Despite the paucity of competition in this breed, the judge (Mr. W. B. Andrew) was pleased with the type of the animals, which, he said, were wellwoolled and of good frames. The champion ram was of an excellent type —just tbe animal required for utility purposes. Vile 3. Best pen of four 2-tooth Southdown flock rams: W. Howard Booth 1, W. H. Buick and Son 2. The judge of the Southdowns (Mr. H. J. Andrew, of Maheno, Otago) said that the quality of these sheep was generally very good. Standards wore much the rame as when he judged at Masterton four or five years ago. Competition was now chiefly between a certain number of established breeders. The champion run was a particularly good sheep which might be expecte : to rank high in any show, even in the OU Country. The lambs, both ram and ewe, touched a high standard. The champion ewe was a sheep of outstanding quality. One little fault, Mr. Andrew observed, was that some of the sheep did not handle quite as well m the back as they should. They should have been softer. In a fat lamb and mutton breed it was very important that this fault should be corrected, as it could be by due attention to* selection in breeding.
