THE MARKETS.
PAHIATUA EWE FAIR. The W.F.C.A. Ltd., report as follows on the Pahiatua Fair, held yesterday: The entry came forward well up to advertised numbers, just on 16,000 head being yarded. Buyers were present from all parts of the Wairarapa, Southern Hawke’s Bay, Itangitikci, Manawatu and the local districts. The offering generally exceeded in condition and quality that of previous years. In fact, we consider that the yarding throughout was the best ever offered by us in the district. The continued dry weather, combined with the low prices ruling for fat ewes, had a depressing effect on the market and the sale can ho faithfully described from, a selling point of view, as a battling one right through. We disposed of ajiout 14,000 ewes of our entry and wish to thank.-vendors for the sportsmanlike manner in which they met the market, Avhich has most invariably made the successful issue of this sale and possibly the preniier ewe fair offered by one firm in the North Island.
