AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
SUB-CENTRE MEETS. DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS GATHERING. A meeting of Wairarapa Hub-Centro vas held last evening, Mr. W. G. iVaterson presiding. The Ponatahi Club was granted pornission to change the date of its sports meeting from February 26 to March Is) A request from the Caledonian uety to appoint a referee from the Subcentre for future snorts meetinas was agreed to. A letter from the Manawatu Club asking for information on the installation of electric light for sports meetings was referred to the Carterton Club te supply the desired information It was decided to hold the sub-centre district championships during the present season, the date to be appointed at a subsequent meeting. The programmes of the Ponatahi and the Kahautara Clubs were' approved and It was decided to request the Kahautara Club to reduce the entry fees to the standard of Is for each event. The Makuri Picnic and Sports Club was granted permission to include the 100, 220 and 440 yards cup events in its programme. The application for T. Oaklev ’s performance in the one mile cycle event on January 22 being recorded as a NewZealand record was approved. The local officer reported very favourably on the manner in which the Eketahuna. Masterton and Mauriceville Clubs’ sports meetings were conducted and made an urgent appeal for more sub-centre officials to attend the country clubs* sport* meetings as their assistance was greatly appreciated at all times.
