NEWS IN BRIEF.
In the New South Wales Assembly, replying tc a question, the Premier (Mr Eang) said he would get the newspaper tax by other means if the process embodied in the Newspaper Taxation Act were vetoed by the High Court. It is stated that Mr. Lang would introduce a tax on advertisements. The Niagara sailed from Sydney for Auckland yesterday afternoon. Mr. McKell (New South Wales Minister for Justice) is a passenger.
