FEATHERSTON SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. SWIMMING CAB-NIVAL TO BE HELD. (“The Age” Special). At the monthly meeting of the Featherston School Committee, the chairman, Mr. C. C. Kenward presided. The offer of £5 from Mr. Fellingham for the year’s grazing was accepted. Messrs .Card and Lawson, solicitors, wrote intimating a bequest from the late Mr. Vicary, of £25, to be expended on the school ground in improvements. A letter appreciating their action was sent to Mr. Vicary’s executors. 4- circular from the Wellington Education Board regarding the. visit of the Duke and Duchess of York, stated that the Standard 3 to Standard 6 pupils would bo railed fror> to Masterton on Saturday, March 5, and given a free meal. The head teacher reported that about 156 children would be making the journey. The credit balance in the bank was £6B 17s sd. Accounts to the amount of £l7 6s 9d were passed. The headteacher suggested that in 1 lieu of a picnic there should be held an afternoon sports, followed by a fancy dress ball on the Thursday before Easter. On the motion of the chairman this suggestion was agreed to. Tho committee authorised the run•ning of a school swimming carnival, details to be left in the hands of the teachers. At the request of the headteacher, Mr. Holcroft and Mr. W. Muir were appointed to assist. It was decided to obtain prices for the concreting of the High School shelter sheds.
