MATCH AGAINST WAIKATO. VISITORS IN STRONG POSITION. HAMILTON, February 8. The Melbourne Cricket Club commenced a two days’ game against Waikato to-day in fine weather and on a good wicket. The home side in the first * innings realised 119 runs, Badeley 29 and Going 24 being the top-scorers. Dakin secured four wickets for nine runs, T. G. Armstrong three for 50 and Sandford two for 37. Melbourne lost nine wickets for 395 runs, drawing stumps (Warwick Armstrong not out 60, Wood 51, Rodgerson 49, Onyons 48, Campbell 34 and Ransford 32). Taylor secured four wickets for 97 and Pomeroy three for 56.— (P.A.) THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM. BOWLEY TO COACH ON VOYAGE. ■ WELLINGTON, February 8. It is understood that the search for cricketers to represent New Zealand on the tour to England has been completed and the result is to be made known tomorrow. In the course of a statement to-day, Mr. Dan Reese said that the f Cricket Council had given consideration to the suggestion from Auckland that E. H. Bowley, the Sussex professional under engagement as coach to the Auckland Cricket Association, he sent to England with the team as coach on the voyage.
