RUN DOWN BY ENGINE.

SHOCKING FATALITY. AT MARTON LEVEL CROSSING. MARTON, February 8. A shocking fatality occurred at the railway junction at six o’clock this evening, when an elderly man, believed to be J. Williams, a farmer, of Waverley, was run down by an engine proceeding to the locomotive sheds extension. There is a level crossing at the point where the accident occurred. It is presumed that the deceased failed to observe the approaching engine and walked into it. He was shockingly mutilated, death being instantaneous. Papers found on the deceased indicate his identity as stated. The body is as yet unidentified. Details of the actual occurrence arc lacking-, as no one saw the accident.—(P.A.)
