PRIMARY EDUCATION.

CARTERTON SCHOOL. (“The Age” Special). The monthly meeting of the Carterton School Committee was held last evening, Mr. L. W. Wilton presiding. The chairman extended a welcome to the newly-appointed headmaster, Mr. E. M. Kebblcwhite. The Education Board advised the appointment of Mr. A. F. Lee as second assistant.

Regarding the forthcoming Royal visit, the Education Board advised that the Government would transport by train children ©f Standard 3 and upwards to the nearest centre to be visited by the Duke and Duchess of York. The children would return the same day. The matter was left in the hands of. the headmaster.

The headmaster reported that Mr. ■Lee (from Canterbury) had commenced duties as junior assistant. Miss McKay has been appointed assistant for ene year and Miss Ticemurst probationer. During the absence of Miss Shaw on sick leave, Miss Miller was attached to the staff. The primary roll opened with 335, am average of 290, and the secondary roll with 35* Arrangements- are to be made for swimming sports- and 1 a picture benefit entertainment.

Accounts totalling £25 13s IQd were passed. A committee was appointed to report on the matter of regrading the paths and repairing the asphalt. Mr. C. E. Jones was appointed visitor for the month.
