MEETING OF MASTERTON STEWARDS.
TEN SHILLING TOTALISATOR DISPENSED WITH.
A meeting of stewards of the Masterton Racing Club was held last night, Mr. C. F. Vallan.ee presiding. It was decided to advise the totalisator proprietors that the ten shilling windows would be dispensed with in future and that only £1 and £5 tickets would be issued.
The treasurer reported that the overdraft was £590, the principal cause of which was a progress payment of £4OO towards the erection of the new stewards’ stand. The receipts included six amounts of £2O for the purchase of members’ seats in the new stand. It was reported that ten others had booked seats at a similar figure.
The Ground Committee reported that the racecourse improvements were proceeding satisfactorily towards completion, and the improved conveniences and track were appreciated by all concerned.
Last year’s programme was adopted for the one-day autumn meeting, the nnly alteration being the addition of twenty sovs. to the stake of the Flying Handicap. It was decided to start the meeting at 11.45 a.m.
In view of the utility of the recentlypurchased motor tractor, the Ground Committee was empowered to dispose of two of the three horses used by the caretaker.
Mr. H. G-. Williams, who is leaving New Zealand shortly, was granted leave of absence for the remainder of the year.
