Mr. Burke has taken up duties as headmaster at the South Featherston School. At the monthly meeting of tho Featherston branch of the Plunket Society, held on Wednesday, a vote of sympathy w r as passed to Sir Truby King in his recent sad bereavement. The following new members were proposed: Mesdarces A. Clark, Ness, Quinez and Price. It was decided to hold bridge parties in the Plunket rooms later in the year. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. McKenzie have returned from Picton.
Mrs. Aitken is visiting her daughter, Miss Aitken, Plunket nurse for the Featherston district.
The Haunui Croquet Club entertained the Greytown Croquet Club at afternoon tea on Thursday, when a return match w r as played. Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Gregor (Greytown) lost to Mrs. Barry and Mrs. Carlyon (Haunui); Mesdames Haig and Viles (Greytown) beat Mesdames Simpson and Chalmers (Haunui); Mesdames Stevens and Brunton (Greytown) lost to Mrs. Wakely and Miss Card (Haunui); Mesdames" Brookes and Humphreys (Greytown) lost to Mesdames Rea and Reed (Haunui).
