THE ROYAL VISIT.

MASTERTON ARRANGEMENTS. The Masterton Borough Council last evening received formal confirmation of the programme which will be observed here on Saturday, March 5, on the occasion of the visit of Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of York. The Royal Party will arrive by train from the north at 1.10. p.m. and after being received by the Mayor and Mayoress and the Town Clerk, will proceed to the Park. Following the custopiary inspection of the guard of honour, the Mayor will present an address of welcome and will formally present councillors, local body representatives and their wives. The Duke will inspect a parade of boy scouts and girl guides and school children and will plant an oak tree in commemoration of the visit. The party will depart at 2.10 p.m. for Wellington.

It is understood that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs and their wives will be accompanying the Royal Party.

The council discussed various details in connection with the arrangements which will be similar to those carried out for the visit of the Prince of Wales.

Cr. H. H. Daniell reported that it was hoped to have the entire route to be traversed by the Royal Party suitably beflagged and draped with bunting.
