NEW TREATIES
JAPAN AND ARGENTINA

It is reported from Buenos Ayrea that a treaty between Italy and Argentina for the free exchange of foodstuffs has been drawn up, and a similar treaty between Argentina and Japan is in the process of negotiation, while pourparlers with a similar purpose are being exchanged between Argentina and Portugal. The proposed J apo-Argentinian arrangement will include wheat, meat, fish, vegetables, and fruits. Japan will export to Argentina canned and salt fish, canned fruits, and vegetables, while Argentina will send to Japan wheat and beef. The Japanese Minister, M. Nakumura, speaking on the subject feaid: "I consider the treaty of great importance to Japan owing to the high prices of foodstuffs there, and the state of unrest prevailing among the people. I believe that the treaty alone will be sufficient to allay tho unrest."
