SPORTING
(Notea by "Bee.") Mannish must have a big say in the decision of the Maiden Race at Tauherenikau on Saturday. Lady General was backward when she started at the Masterton meeting, but should be ready for .Tauherenikau. She is nicely handicapped in the Railway Handicap/ and may 'be found figthing out the finish with Tari. j Miss Maid, who recently won at Dannevxrke, is asked to give Probate weight in the Mokai Hack Welter. On periormaces the latter - should beat the former. It is time Lady Witchet scored. I
Dainty Step must be given a big chance -in the Easter though Goldshine may upset the lightweight. Battle Array is always a dangerous customer. \ The two-year-old race looks a fairly good thing for Canyon. La Paloma will be a hard nut to crack. Stutter has been running into form and will bo the hardest to beat in the Ferry Hack Handicap. If well, Damien must run well. Despite the big weight Imaribbou cannot be overlooked in the Martinj borough Welter. Scornful is the pick j of the handicap. The Members* Handicap looks a gift for Negambo after his showing at Masterton. Maymorn is in winning form. Mr W. R. Kemball's pair, Hymestra and Bennetter, will be close up at the finish of the Easter Handicap •at Auckland. Tamaroa will be worth watching at Auckland. j The high-priced Vasilkov is a probable starter in the Maiden Race at Tauherenikau. The half-brother to Sasanof is reported to be on the im-. prove. J Old Gold may win a race at Feeding. Scornful has been disposed of by Mr W. R. Kemball to a local sportsman, and is now in the stable of .Mr Higg.ns. Scornful has not proved a money-maker for Mr Kembail, but may do bettor in the future.
Penury Rose was not ready for the Masterton meeting, having been spelled for a week or two. Mr Bob. Knox's horse may run prominently in the Welter at Tauherenikau. Mr W. R. Kemball's hurdle and cross-country horses axe now in work on tie Opaki track.' The Masterton representative in the Great Northern Oaks —Miss Gold—is given an excellent chance pi winning that event. . Swanee River has been scratched for all engagements at the CM C. meeting. War Scare, dam of EStland, Tinmark and Fingow, is this year mothering a full-sister to the abo/e-.v.on-tioned trio, while old Gossip, who is carrying her years well, has a filly by -Finland, therefore full-sister ,to Bobrikoff. « Aatinome and Dainty Step are backed down almost to nothing for the double at TauherenikauT
« W, Brackenfield for Christehyrch and Rockfleld for Auckland is a Great Easter.double that is receiving a tot of attention from shrewd punters. There will be nothing else in the field until the Onslaught takes'place; while tho others are playing 80-Peep. *
