OTAGO RAM FAIR
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night. Ttfe annual ram and ewe fair was held at Burnside today. The total number of sheep yarded was far in excess of the average of recent years, and quite beyond buyers' requirements. No stud rams of exceptional merit were offered, with the exception of Corriedales, which Were in very short supply. As fax as Border Leicesters and Romneys were concerned, it was only when sheep above the average came the hammer 1 that bidding was at all keen. Flock rams, speaking generally, were up to the average of previous years, but even for the best lots the prices were low. Medium and ordinary flock rams were entirely neglected, and only brought prices equal to what exporters could give 'per pound for slaughtering. Any vendor with ordinary or common sheep had'to take the killing price or withdraw his As a consequence, there were- many withdrawals. Stud Border Leicesters realised up to 85 guineas, which price was obtained for shefep vended by Adam King, of Stony Creek. Other prominent vendors were Little; Windsor; John Millar, Maungatua; 6. P. Johnston, Maitlandj J. T. Heid, Elderslie; Thos. Lockhead, Balclutha. Flock Border Leicesters brought from 1$ to 2|gns. Bomney , stud rams brought from 7 to 21gns, flock Romneys H to 15gns, and two-tcnoth Romney ewes 3gns. Shropshire ewes were not in request, one line selling at 1 1-8 gnß.
