The Rev. D. C. Bates wired last night: —The disturbance passing in the north has been responsible for high easterly winds and rain northwards of Kawhia and East Cape. Elsewhere, the weather has been fair to cloudy generally. Southerly breezes have prodominated. Present indications are for south-east winds, strong to gale, in the far nor*, and moderate to strong south-easterlies, backing to increasing northerlics elsewhere. Rain probable in the northern and East Coast districts'of the North Island, and unsettled conditions, with rain, are likely to follow generally.- The barometer is unsteady, rising soon in the norm but falling in the south.
