CORRECT SIDE TO MILK
Eegarding the correct side to milk, Mr. Primrose McConnell states, in the New Zealand Farmer: —"As a matter of fact, there is no correct side; it is all a matter of custom, an where the milking machine is used one cow in a double bail' is milked from the right side and the other from tho left. If the mijking is done by hand it should always be done from the same side, but it does not matter whether it is right or left. In many parts of Scotland hand milkers take the left side. In New Zealand it is the right. The formation of the British bails makes it quite possible to milk at either side. The divisions are very short, and no leg rope is used. The divisions of the Now Zealand cow stalls are long, seemingly, to suit the leg rope, and milking is only possible from one side. Every, cow in Britain has a separate stall, and she will have no other. This undoubtedly adds to her contentment while being milked."
