At the Supreme Court, Napier, on Friday week, the case the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald v. the Trustees of lona College, claiming £505 damages for alleged wrongful expulsion of his daughter from the College, was brought up in Chambers. On the motion of Mr P. P. Kelly, instructed by Sir John Findlay, the case was .vithdrawn. Mr Sladden, on behalf of the defendants, consented. Counsel for plaintiff made the following statement:—"The object of the plaintiff in bringing this action was to make it clear that the expulsion of his daughter, Miss Mac Donald, was due merely to a thoughtless escapade of herß which was, however, a breach of the discipline of lona College, but not involving any reason for reflection on her character. As the trustees are themselves satisfied that Miss MaeDonald's conduct amounted only to a breach of discipline and are willing to say so, the plaintiff does not propose to proceed with this action." Counsel for defendants made the following statement: "While the trustees are of opinion that the infraction of the rules committed by Miss Mac Donald amounted to a breach of school discipline justifying the action taken by the head mistress, they are pleased to be able' to say that Miss MaeDonald's conduct did not involve more than such a breach, and that any inference to the contrary drawn by others is without foundation. Neither the trustees nor the staff of the College are in any way responsible for any such inference."
