A Territorial named Thomas Henry Bovey was charged at the Magistrate's Court in Masterton yesterday withj failing to attend drills, Defendant said that he had been at Tinui for] fiv& months past. He . had written last October to the Defence authorities, asking for six months' s Sergeant-Major Voyce said the Defence officers had no recollection of Bovey having written to the Department. They could not remember getting , a letter. The Magistrate paid it appeared to him remarkable that the Defence authorities did not keep | letters filed, and had to depend upon j their memories'as to whether a letter had been received or not. However, as Bovey had pleaded*guilty, he would be convicted and discharged*
